In 1960, my parents came to the United States of America from Cuba as political refugees. While they knew they were fortunate to now be in "The Land of the Free," one of their desires was to return to Cuba to help rid their homeland of socialism. My mother took part in many training exercises leading up to the Bay of Pigs Invasion. My father helped smuggle arms and ammunition to the resistance inside the island before and after the fray. Despite their efforts, my parents were never able to return to Cuba because once socialism takes root in a country, there is no getting rid of it.
Today, many in this country would like to implement socialism in America. Now is a crucial time for those of us who are fortunate enough to call this great nation our home. Our God-given freedoms are in danger of being wiped out, and we must fight to preserve them at all costs. I am running for congress to keep our democracy secure and ensure that AMERICA NEVER BECOMES A SOCIALIST COUNTRY.
As Ronald Reagan emphasized, "America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere."
